Oral surgery

Oral surgery covers surgical procedures in the mouth carried out safely, in sterile conditions and under local anaesthetic. We plan every procedure in advance, so it is as calm and predictable as possible for you.

Preparing for the procedure

Before every oral-surgical procedure we schedule a consultation, during which a clinical assessment and a detailed medical history are taken, to determine the patient’s general health and plan the appropriate treatment.

Depending on the type and complexity of the procedure, a 2D panoramic X-ray or a 3D CBCT scan is recommended, which allows a precise assessment of the teeth, bone structures and surrounding anatomical formations.

During the consultation, the patient should inform the dentist of all current and chronic systemic conditions, allergies and medications they take. This information is especially important for identifying possible contraindications and assessing the need for further tests or a specialist consultation, including an internist.

After the assessment, the patient receives individual preparation instructions and the procedure is scheduled. Before the procedure we recommend the patient be rested and well slept, and have eaten a light meal.

After the procedure

After the procedure, the patient receives written post-operative instructions for proper oral hygiene, diet, care of the surgical area and the course of recovery. If medication is indicated, an appropriate prescription is issued, and the patient should follow the recommendations for using the prescribed medicines, including the dose, method and duration of therapy.

Consistently following the instructions and attending regular check-ups are especially important for proper healing and reducing the risk of post-operative complications. The recovery time depends on the type and complexity of the procedure, as well as the patient’s individual health.

Frequently asked questions

Will I feel pain?

Oral-surgical procedures are carried out under local anaesthetic, which allows the procedure to be done painlessly. During the procedure you may feel pressure or vibrations, but you should not feel pain. Once the anaesthetic wears off, pain, swelling or discomfort may appear, the intensity of which depends on the type and complexity of the procedure. You will receive individual recommendations for managing post-operative pain.

How long is recovery?

The recovery time depends on the type and complexity of the procedure, as well as the patient’s individual health. After simpler procedures, patients usually return to everyday activities within 1 to 2 days. After more complex surgery, swelling and discomfort may last a few days. After the procedure you will receive appropriate instructions for post-operative care and check-ups.

How much does it cost?

The price depends on the type of procedure. See the price list or ask for a quote after your examination.
